CROWN POINT | A $2,500 contribution to the Aquatics Underwater Recovery & Rescue Unit by Lake County Sheriff John Buncich has helped keep the team afloat.
Ron Kurth, the unit president and a retired Lake County sheriff's officer, said the unit is about $10,000 short in funding for the year.
"As the money becomes available, we will continue to be able to do the business we have done for 43 years. We are dependent on money from the sheriff.”
The $2,500 will fund repair and upgrading of the breathing equipment and full face masks for seven of the 18 team members.
