CROWN POINT | A facade grant application from the Lake County Sheriff's House Foundation remains under consideration by the Crown Point Redevelopment Commission.

The foundation, which preserves and maintains the former Lake County Jail and attached sheriff's house, requested a grant of up to $25,000 as part of a program administered by Crown Point officials.

The Redevelopment Commission deferred the request at its August meeting and asked that members of the Sheriff's House Foundation and the city's historical preservation review board be present at the September meeting for further review.

The foundation intends to use the grant to restore masonry work on the building, Crown Point officials said.
