CROWN POINT | The Solon Robinson Elementary School Student Council has recently been working on a project to give back to our wonderful community of Crown Point.

Some of the council members and teachers, along with parent volunteers made fleece no-sew blankets for the local animal shelter. Our student council is new this year and has done several wonderful activities from raising funds to donate to the Sandy Hook PTO to helping raise funds for “Relay for Life” in the coming weeks.

Students and volunteers stayed after school on Monday, March 25, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. to assemble the blankets and then some representatives from the Lake County Sheriff’s Animal Adoption and Control Center came to pick up the donations.

Solon Robinson made a total of 10 blankets in all and the teaching staff here donated 56 containers of Clorox Wipes to be used at the shelter. There were also some pet toys that were donated as well. The reps from the shelter were overjoyed! We’re very proud of the children and thought it would be nice if the paper could do a little write-up to let the community know about the good things going on at Solon Robinson.
