CROWN POINT | Solon Robinson Elementary School will host it annual science fair tonight in the school gymnasium.
The public is invited to view the students’ science projects from 7 to 8 p.m. The fair showcases experiments conducted by students in grades two through five.
Second-grade projects were completed as a grade level, and that data will be presented for viewing. Third- through fifth-grade projects, completed at home, must be experiments and accurately follow the scientific method.
The students make a hypothesis based on prior knowledge, carry out an experiment multiple times to verify consistent results, then report their findings with a project board and oral presentation. In addition, students in grades four and five write a report to explain their results.
After presenting their findings in class, several fourth- and fifth-graders will be chosen to be evaluated by a team of judges made up of local community members. These judges award ribbons based on the quality of the projects.
