CROWN POINT | Sounds of battle that plagued our nation 150 years ago will boom over the Lake County Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday through a series of Civil War skirmish reenactments.

The Lake County-based 20th Indiana Infantry reenactment group is set to do battle with the 154th Tennessee Infantry re-enactors at the Covered Bridge Harvest Fest. The 20th Indiana also will be joined by the 4th Indiana Light Artillery re-enactors, who will fire cannons during the events.

Two battle/skirmish reenactments, each about 20 minutes along are scheduled for each day. On Saturday, the battles will occur at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. On Sunday, the battles are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Each battle reenactment will occur near the covered bridge at the fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St., Crown Point.

The overall festival will include food vendors and other entertainment as well. The grounds are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to the battle reenactments, the 20th Indiana Infantry also will host a living history campsite between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday to demonstrate the camp life of Civil War soldiers and answer questions.
