South Shore Arts will begin its spring term of classes the week of March 11 at its three locations in Munster, Crown Point and Hammond.
This spring's classes include a variety of preschool, children's and adult classes including drawing, painting, pottery, calligraphy, photography (35mm darkroom and digital), cartooning, fantasy drawing, manga, Japanese art, as well as Photoshop and Illustrator. South Shore Arts is also offering workshops for children and adults.
At the South Shore Arts Munster facility, classes are held in fully-equipped art studios on the lower level of the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. Classes generally run 10 weeks during the spring term. Prices vary depending on length of class and supplies.
Returning is the Drawing and Painting Portraits class for ages 16 through adult and Music Together in Munster for children from birth to 5 years.
The South Shore Arts Crown Point branch at 123 N. Main St. offers classes in painting, pottery, drawing, manga, intro to digital camera techniques, Japanese art, fantasy drawing, and various children¹s and adult classes.
There are also numerous one-day workshops being offered for children and adults such as the Tour of the World passport series for ages 5 to 9, advanced zen-tangles, felted soap, tie-dye, and an acting workshop.
South Shore Arts Hammond site, Substation No. 9, 435 Fayette St., offers classes in Photoshop, Illustrator, airbrushing, painting, drawing, a senior art workshop, and more. Thanks to a cooperative relationship with the City of Hammond, all Hammond residents taking classes at Substation No. 9 pay half price. Proof of residency is required upon registration.
Register by Thursday and save 10 percent on most classes. Discounts also apply for South Shore Arts members on most classes.
