CROWN POINT | During the St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage dinner, the small bay will serve as the registered St. Baldrick’s Day venue in Crown Point this year from noon-4 p.m. Each participant or “shavee” quests to raise the highest amount of funding possible for life-saving research while shaving his or her head as a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer -- most of whom do not get to choose how to style their hair today.
With the support of local stylists and barbers and the “shavees” courageous act, much needed funds will go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancer and give survivors long healthy lives.
During the St. Patrick’s Day Parade the Crown Point St. Baldrick’s Committee will have a float accepting donations along the parade route sidelines.
Those interested in being a “shavee” or donating to the cause, can go to ww.stbaldricks.org and type in venue “Crown Point Fire Department” to be redirected to the registration page.
