Cal College holds golf outing

CROWN POINT | Calumet College of St. Joseph hosts its 14th annual Crimson Wave Golf Outing at White Hawk Country Club, 1001 White Hawk Drive. Breakfast is served at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11. The cost is $130.

Student health screenings

CEDAR LAKE | The Lions Clubs of Cedar Lake, Lowell and St. John, along with Parents As Teachers, are screening preschoolers 2 to 6 for learning difficulties, vision, and hearing. It's from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Cedar Lake branch of the Lake County Public Library. All children are welcome. Food Bank fundraiser

SCHERERVILLE | The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana holds a Family Fun Night Fundraiser by taking over JAK'S Warehouse for the night for a Food Bank-only event to raise funds for The HOPE Project, a tutoring and nutrition education program for low-income students. It's from 5 to 9 p.m. at JAK's Warehouse, 221 Indianapolis Blvd., Schererville. Tickets include access to go-karts, bumper cars, laser tag, urban golf, laser maze and high ropes course, as well as dinner and dessert and a special guest appearance by Brandon Bollig of the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. Tickets can be purchased at www.foodbanknwievents.org. The cost is $50 an individual, $125 for a family of five, $300 for a group of up to 10. Business expo, lunch on tap

HAMMOND | The Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce's ninth annual Business Expo & Luncheon, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Dynasty Banquet, 4125 Calumet Ave., features a panel of experts who will discuss the Affordable Care Act and clarify what business owners need to know. Chamber pours wine for tasting event

CROWN POINT | Get Out Get Active Summer Fitness Series hosts a Zombie Bridge Run 5K/Walk & Safe Zone Challenge from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Besides the Zombie run, there will be a Mini-Monster Dash/Walk for children at 10. Railroad Fair rolls into Griffith

GRIFFITH | The Griffith Historical Society will host the 30th annual Griffith Railroad Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Griffith Historical Park, 201 S. Broad St. It offers railroad and model railroad vendors. The Train Depot will be open to explore. Hobo stew will be cooked over an open fire. Free admission and parking.

Griffith Boy Scouts hold fest

GRIFFITH | Griffith Boy Scout Troop 264 hosts the 34th annual Fall Harvest Craft Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Central Park, 698 N. Broad St. It offers hand-made items only.

Brickie Fest Homecoming

Church holding fall festival

It's a lamb and hog roast with chili, beef sandwiches and tacos. There is a bag tournament, games of chance, lots of kids games and a photo booth.
