Donate Life Rose ceremony
MUNSTER | A Donate Life Rose Dedication ceremony will be held by Community Healthcare System, a corporate sponsor of the Donate Life float in the Tournament of Roses Parade. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster. Organ donors and their families are invited to accept a rose and complete a dedication on a flower vial, which will be sent to Pasadena to have a rose placed into them. It will be included in Dedication Garden on the float. Attendance is free, but registration is required by phone. EAST CHICAGO | East Chicago hosts its fourth annual 5K Run/Walk, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Block Junior High School, 2700 Cardinal Drive. Race forms can be downloaded online. Registration and packet pickup begins at 7 a.m. on race day. The cost is $18.
Science Olympiad tips offered
GARY | To kick off the upcoming Science Olympiad season, Indiana University Northwest hosts the fourth annual Science Olympiad Mini Clinic, a training session for students and coaches. Lego League tourney at IUN
GARY | Indiana University Northwest hosts the FIRST Lego League Indiana Qualifying Tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. at Savannah gymnasium, 3400 Broadway. It includes at least 32 teams competing for a chance to advance their team to the Indiana Championship Tournament in December in Fort Wayne.
