CROWN POINT | Two women were seriously injured Friday when the car in which they were riding left the road and crashed into a tree.
Jordyn Croell, 20, of Crown Point, lost control of the car at 10:30 p.m. while traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound in the 6300 block of West 117th Avenue, according to Lake County sheriff’s spokeswoman Patti Van Til.
Croell, who had to be extricated from the car, suffered broken bones. Her passenger, Alyson Crowley, 19, of Valparaiso, had internal injuries.
Crowley and Croell were transported by ambulance to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point, where Crowley had emergency surgery. Both remain hospitalized.
The car crashed on the property of Crown Point High School teacher Bruce Sharp, who was going to bed when he heard the crash. Sharp called 911, got dressed and assisted in calming Crowley until paramedics arrived. Crowley is a Crown Point High School graduate.
