CROWN POINT | Forty-eight of Indiana's top VEX Robotics Teams qualified for the Indiana State VEX Championships held March 1 in Indianapolis.
Five teams represented the Crown Point High School VEX 1233 UnderDogs robotics ream, with Team 1233F advancing to the quarterfinals, Teams 1233A and C reaching the semifinals, and Team 1233E going all the way to the finals - for the fifth straight year - and qualifying for the VEX Robotics World Championships in Anaheim Calif., April 23-26.
Crown Point's Team 1233E will compete against more than 400 teams from 24 countries for the right to be called world champions.
The Bulldog VEX Robotics Team was also awarded a certificate of appreciation in recognition of valuable contributions to Indiana VEX Robotics.
The CPHS VEX 1233 UnderDogs hosted its first VEX Robotics State Qualifying Tournament in January. Nineteen teams from Indiana and Northeast Illinois competed for four spots in the Indiana State VEX Championships.
Of the six Crown Point teams this year, Teams 1233A and 1233E won the tournament and Team 1233B received the coveted Excellence Award for All-Around Design and Competition Ranking. That qualified all three teams for the state championship March 1, where they joined Team 1233C who was on the winning alliance at the Jay County Tournament earlier this season.
