World War II military veterans are invited to join fellow Chicagoland WWII veterans for an unforgettable day of honor in Washington D.C. through Honor Flight Chicago.

See Washington D.C. in a way you never imagined – with honor, respect, and dignity. Honor Flight Chicago has flown almost 4,000 WWII veterans and hopes you will join them, at no cost to you.
The Honor Flight Chicago experience includes around-trip charter flight and luxury motorcoach transportation in DC, a personal escort for the day, wheelchairs as needed, special tours just for WWII veterans, all meals, snacks and beverages, and a few surprises along the way.

The Indiana Room
Rediscover Crown Point by browsing the Indiana Room, located on the second floor of the Crown Point Library, 122 N. Main St.
The library has books on the history of Crown Point, genealogies, old directories, even old Crown Point High School yearbooks.
Nearly every issue of The Lake County Star newspaper nearly every issue is on microfilm.
Genealogists can take advantage of the Ancestry.com (available only at the library) and Heritage Quest databases. Indexes for Crown Point marriages, cemetery, and land transfers could provide clues to that elusive brick wall you have been struggling with and the pamphlet file is full of many hidden gems.

Habitat needs you
Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana will be serving seven families this year in their housing ministry. That is a 133 percent increase from last year.
Four of this year's builds will be remodels and the remaining three will be new construction.
Habitat for Humanity need volunteers to complete these homes and keep to their production schedule. The build days are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
In April, there will be a remodel in Hammond, with construction of a new home in May in Hammond and, in June, a new construction in Gary. In August, the remodeling of a home in Gary is planned, followed by a remodel in Hammond in September and a new construction in October in Lowell.
