Webinar to explore home-based food businesses
CROWN POINT | With the significant popularity of farmers markets, more and more people are looking to produce and sell their own specialty products.
House Enrolled Act 1309 in 2009 created a unique opportunity for people to produce products out of their home kitchens under the home-based vendor exemption.
A webinar, Cooking Up a Food Business in the Home Kitchen — Opportunities and Challenges of Starting or Growing a Home Based Vendor Food Enterprise, explores the opportunities and the limitations of the House act, the science behind the regulations and safe and best practices for food production.
This program will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, March 20, 27 and April 3, at Lake County's Purdue Cooperative Extension Office, 880 E. 99th Court.
To register, contact Nikky Witkowski at nikky@purdue.edu or (219) 755-3240.
A brochure that outlines the sessions and includes registration information is available from the Lake County extension office and at http://www.ag.purdue.edu/counties/lake/Documents/ANR/HBVWebinar.pdf.
