MERRILLVILLE | Andrean High School students Hannah Kulesa and Jessica Zarik are this year's Dawn Brancheau Dream Big Scholarship winners.

The Dawn Brancheau Foundation awarded the scholarships recently, and will host its third annual Dawn Brancheau Foundation Dream Big Walk on Sept. 15 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point.

Proceeds benefit community service projects at the Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Lake, Holy Name Church's vacation Bible school, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, LYDIA, Matanya's Hope, Perry Ferrini Dog Park, South Suburban Humane Society, the Lake County Fairgrounds and the Dream Big Scholarship at Andrean High School.

Visit for more information or to register for the walk.

The foundation was founded in memory of Cedar Lake native and Andrean graduate Dawn Brancheau, an animal trainer who was killed in a tragic accident at SeaWorld three years ago. Most of its funds come from a run at SeaWorld Orlando in Florida each spring and the Dream Big Walk in Crown Point in the fall.
