CROWN POINT | A woman previously accused of burglarizing homes in south Lake County has been charged in connection with a May break-in to a Crown Point home.
Jessica Spillers, 26, was charged Tuesday by the Lake County prosecutor's office with receiving stolen property, a felony, Crown Point Police Chief Pete Land said.
Spillers is being housed in the Lake County jail. An $8,000 cash bond has been set.
A police search of Spillers' home in the 700 block of Wood Street, Crown Point, in August turned up a credit card that had been reported stolen in the May 30 burglary of a Crown Point home.
The warrant to search Spillers' home in August had been based on information learned in the investigation of a previous Lake County case, Land said.
Spillers and two men, Brian Erwin, 27, and Phillip Lowry, 28, both of Crown Point, were charged by the prosecutor's office in August in connection with burglaries of two homes in south Lake County.
Each was charged with burglary, residential entry and theft.
The burglarized homes were in the 11800 block of Cline Avenue, west of Crown Point, and near U.S. 231 and Iowa Street, east of Crown Point.
Crown Point police continue to look into whether Spillers is linked to other investigations, Land said.
