CROWN POINT | Each year the Crown Point Community Foundation gathers to celebrate women and philanthropy.
This year the event was held at the Crown Point Community Foundation offices. Throughout the year, women participate by donating to the Women’s Giving Circle Fund. Annually they gather to help decide the charities that will benefit from their philanthropy.
This year, the ladies had $8,000 to distribute and they chose 23 organizations to receive funding.
Recipients of the Women’s Giving Circle grants include the 4th of July Celebration Committee, Great Lakes Greyhound of Indiana, Arc of NWI, Ivy Tech Community College, Bluebird Foundation, Lake County Historical Society, CP Community Library, Lake Court House Foundation, CP Volunteer Fire Department Inc., MAAP Services Inc., Disabled American Veterans Chapter 80, MacArthur Elementary School Playground Fund, Don Hess Memorial Fund, NWI Adult Guardianship Services, Early Learning Partnership of NWI, Power Paws for Kids Inc., Franciscan Community Adult Daycare, St. Clare Health Clinic, Friends of the CP Adult Learning Center, University of St. Francis, Girls on the Run NWI, Women’s Association of NWI, The Giving BackPack Foundation and Scholarships for Women over 21
Another $8,000 was placed in the Crown Point Community Foundation unrestricted endowment fund. This fund provides grants to support community needs and programs three times each year through a grant process.
The Women’s Giving Circle was established in 2003. Each year, members decide the amount of their personal financial contribution. Since 2003, they have contributed nearly $150,000 to community programs and needs.
