CROWN POINT | In an effort to help women develop leadership skills they can use to improve the quality of life in their families and communities, the Crown Point Community Foundation is hosting a two-part workshop, “Women Advancing Women.”
The first session will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at the foundation office, 115 S. Court St., and is limited to 50 participants. Women will learn to integrate work and life, discover stress management techniques, and develop communication and leadership skills.
The second session is planned for 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 3.
The cost of the workshop has been underwritten by the Dan and Vicky Klein Endowment Fund, established by the former Hub City mayor and his wife to provide leadership training opportunities.
There is a fee of $40 for this two-session program, and those monies will support scholarships for women 21 and older who are returning to school.
The foundation is working with Jennifer Connelly, of Crown Point, program facilitator and founder of Triple W Forum.
In addition to her role as a motivational speaker and an advocate for the integration of personal and professional wellness, Connelly teaches and practices yoga. Her speaking voice and mannerisms bring a sense of calm to all she meets, said foundation President Pat Huber.
"One of the goals of the workshop is to have participants develop new connections. Women from many walks of life will be attending," Huber added. "By developing new relationships we will gain a better understanding of the many people leading the organizations serving our community."
If interested in attending, contact the foundation as soon as possible, since space is limited and an RSVP is requested by Wednesday. Call (219) 662-7252 or visit www.theCPCF.org for more details.
