CROWN POINT | A 18-year-old man was charged Friday in a break-in Oct. 1 at a Gary home.

Kurtis Lamar Tolliver was charged in Lake Criminal Court with burglary and residential entry.

Tolliver and three juveniles were stopped by police about 10 a.m. Oct. 1 around the corner from a home in the 2300 block of Wabash Street, according to a probable cause affidavit. The owner had left the home, locked and alarmed, a short time before.

When the owner returned, police had responded to an alarm. Nothing was missing, but bars on a window had been kicked in, the affidavit states.

Police found Tolliver and the four juveniles walking near the home, according to the affidavit. Tolliver allegedly admitted to police that they attempted to break into the home.
