DYER | The annual Hometown Celebration is set for 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Dyer Town Center shopping complex at the northeast corner of U.S. 30 and Calumet Avenue.

The event includes a variety of festival food, a beer garden hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a variety of entertainment and activities. The Celebration includes:

  • A car show, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., $20 registration fee
  • A video gaming trailer
  • A silent auction of sports memorabilia
  • Touch-a-Truck featuring police, fire and SWAT vehicles, as well as dumptrucks and other public works equipment
  • Kids Corner bounce houses and slides
  • Southshore Ghostbusters from 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Donut-hole eating contests for adults and childfren with cash prizes at 5 p.m.
  • Music by Mellencougar from 6 to 10 p.m.

Also Saturday, the Town Wide Garage Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Northgate Park at Calumet Avenue.
