DYER | More than 20 vendors and 280 people came out for the annual Chocolate Lovers Bingo, held on Sunday November 24, 2013, at Casa Maria Banquet Hall on the grounds of St. Maria Goretti Church at 500 Northgate Drive in Dyer. The event was hosted by Alzheimer & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana (ADSNI) and sponsored by Schererville's Residences at Deer Creek, which donated the centerpieces that included chocolate wine, as well as chocolate delights for all, made by Chef Patrick.

“We are delighted at the turnout this year,” said Leona Bachan of ADSNI. “Not only did we have an increase in the number of vendors but we also set a record for the number of people who attended the event,” she explained. “This is our fourth year holding this event and I am pleased and grateful that it has grown by leaps and bounds each year.” Vendors opened at 1:00 p.m. and lunch was served at 1:30 p.m. The cost was $20 which included lunch and a bingo card. There were an abundance of silent auction items, raffles and prizes this year as well.

On hand at the event was Karen Ayersman, Executive Director and Melissa Huffman, Director of Sales & Marketing of the Residences at Deer Creek, the Schererville-based continuing care retirement community that underwrote the event this year. Earlier this fall, Ayersman presented Bachan with a check for $1,000. In addition, the company donated chocolate wine for the centerpieces and chocolate delights for guests, which were made by Residences’ very own Chef Patrick. The Indiana Harbor Athletic and Recreation Association (IAA) hosted the event.
