At North Point Orthopaedics, Dr. Gregory McComis is committed to excellence and pledges to provide the highest quality of orthopaedic care possible. Dr. McComis has almost 20 years of experience in treatment of acute trauma, spine care, general orthopaedic and sports injuries.
The staff utilizes advanced technology, such as electronic medical records and digital X-rays for exceptional patient care.
Dr. McComis performs minimally invasive surgeries for the hip and lumbar spine. Dr. McComis has vast experience in performing the anterior total hip arthroplasty, a revolutionary, minimally-invasive procedure. He has completed more than 500 surgeries in the past three-and-a-half years.
With anterior hip replacement, patients may be able to get out of bed two hours after surgery, and likely will be able to walk without assistance two weeks later. The procedure is performed through a smaller incision in the groin, which spares the muscles. Conventional hip replacement involves cutting through muscle tissue in the buttocks. With anterior hip replacement, normal activities can typically resume in about four weeks.
Similarly, minimally invasive lumbar spine surgery provides patients with a shortened recovery time. Many procedures can be done through small incisions, allowing for outpatient surgery and immediate rehab possibilities.
North Point Orthopaedics recently added a physical therapy clinic in the Munster location. Dr. McComis believes physical therapy plays a critical role in patient care, and by having physical therapy on site, Dr. McComis and Clinical Director Dave Hudak can keep a closer eye on patients as they recover.
Dr. McComis said he strives to provide patients with the highest quality orthopedic care. He is proud to be the highest-ranked orthopedic surgeon with regard to outcomes and completion rate by a local Northwest Indiana hospital. His cost-value ratio was also ranked among the best in the nationwide study.
