DYER | Mindful of budgets, the town of Dyer has given South Lake County Community Services less than what it asked for to underwrite services.

SLCCS had asked for $3,000 from Dyer as a contribution toward the bus service it provides to Dyer residents and others in surrounding communities. But the town council approved an immediate donation of $1,000 in March, with an eye on possibly re-evaluating its finances later on in the year.

SLCCS provides a low-cost bus services to students, seniors and others who qualify. Increasing costs prompted it to raise rider fees by a dollar and also request funding from communities whose residents benefit from the service.
