DYER | After a lot of talk to the contrary, Dyer’s fall festival, Hometown Celebration, is a go for 2013.
The Town Council gave Town Administrator Rick Eberly the go-ahead to begin planning this month for the festival.
Hometown Celebration is held every fall in the Jewel-Osco parking lot. Hometown itself started as a way to celebrate the opening of the Calumet Avenue extension.
Council members have questioned whether the town could afford Hometown Celebration, because public works employees and police officers work on the clock during the festival.
However, Eberly pointed out during a meeting last fall that Hometown has been profitable since its beginning.
