ST. JOHN | An award-winning poet and freelance writer returned to the Tri-Town area recently to share her talent and passion for writing. Children’s author Donna (Austgen) Frisinger visited St. John the Evangelist School to read her latest children’s book with kindergarten through second-grade classes.
Frisinger is the author of “Bink and Slinky’s Ark Adventure,” the story of two groovy snails trying to reach Noah’s Ark before “The Great Falling” begins. While other books have been written about Noah’s big boat and the flood, "Bink and Slinky’s Ark Adventure" focuses on the event as seen through the eyes of two of the smallest, slowest, and seemingly most insignificant of all God’s creatures.
This colorfully illustrated book engaged the children with humor and snappy rhymes throughout the entire story. Her energetic reading was enjoyed by the students, teachers and staff.
Frisinger grew up in Dyer and attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in Dyer. She graduated from Dyer Central (Lake Central) High School and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Butler University and a master's degree from Indiana University. She now lives in Rochester and enjoys sharing her talents with young readers.
