DYER | The Dyer Hometown Celebration is seeking food vendors.
The event actually would welcome vendors of all types, said Town Administrator Rick Eberly, but food vendors are particularly needed.
So far, the celebration, set for Sept. 8, has seven food vendors: White Rhino, Hog Haven, Skyline Snowy Shaved Ice, Hoosier Daddy Barbecue, Jewel Osco, Beggars Pizza and Texas Roadhouse.
Texas Roadhouse is also hosting a chili cook-off, separate from its food booth. The chili cook-off begins at 1 p.m. Entry forms are either at the restaurant or Town Hall.
The Hometown Celebration is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Jewel Osco parking lot, U.S. 30 and Calumet Avenue. The Thunder Road Productions car show runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is $20.
Food and vendor booths are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There also will be a beer garden sponsored by the local VFW. Music is by DJ Rock It Mobile.
The bean bag tournament is at 5 p.m.; registration is at 2:30. Also at 5, there will be a youth and adult doughnut hole eating contest with cash prizes sponsored by Dunkin Donuts and Dr. Jethroe and Sandy Smith.
