DYER | Town officials are making a field trip to Michigan City’s water department this month to consult with officials on their use of wireless water meter readers.

The trip is being posted as an open meeting. Dyer currently has 1,200 wireless water meters left to install. Meters are installed on a voluntary basis, per customer request. The wireless meters allow town employees to get a reading without having contact with the customer.

Some 4,800 wireless meters have been installed so far.
