DYER | The Town Council has tweaked an ordinance that may pave the way to permit angled parking on some streets in town.
The town has banned angled parking for years, partly because heavily traveled U.S. 30 is the main street through town.
No parking is permitted along U.S. 30.
Decisions about permitting angled parking now will be made on a case-by-case basis.
The revision came about because a developer has proposed opening a brewery on the east side of Gettler Street, south of U.S. 30 and north of Dyer VFW Post 6448.
The site lacks parking opportunities., but allowing angled on-street parking would help alleviate that problem.
The ordinance change also calls for the Department of Public Works and the Police and Fire departments to review proposals before parking is approved.
