DYER | Police launched an investigation Monday after a man and woman were found dead in a home, officials said.
Investigators were called to the home in the 2500 block of Sycamore Drive after a relative couldn't contact them, Dyer police Detective Sgt. Don Foley said.
Rhonda Neher, 45, was found with a stab wound to her upper left chest, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
She lived in the home, according to a coroner's news release.
The man had not been identified as of late Monday.
Police found the man and woman at 12:42 p.m. and think they may have been dead for several days, Foley said.
Neher's death was listed as an apparent homicide, according to the coroner's release.
Neighbors stood close by as coroner's investigators arrived and left. Lake County crime lab investigators removed several objects from the home, Foley said.
A dog belonging to Neher was seen at a neighbor's home while police investigated. A family member will be taking care of the dog, Foley said.
