DYER | Town officials are eying a 2013 budget virtually identical to last year’s, with no increases in spending or raises for employees.

“With a frozen tax levy since 2007, there’s not much we can do to increase spending, but we do seek a budget that hits our maximum levy,” Clerk-Treasuer Patricia Hawrot said.

“We’re living within in our means, but we really won’t know the final budget until we arrive at the final figure on the town’s assessed valuation.”

The Town Council entertained public comment on the 2013 budget at Thursday’s meeting, but there was no remonstrance.

Dyer's budget estimate is $15,245,791. With an essentially static budget, pending any major fluctuations in the town’s assessed valuation, the municipal tax rate is likely to remain close to the 2012 figure of $0.2873 per $100 assessed valuation.

The 2012 assessed valuation came in at around $799 million, according to Hawrot.
