DYER | Town officials are still considering decreasing the cost of a pinball license even if other communities have not done so.

Dyer Town Administrator Rick Eberly said his research shows Schererville charges $100 for pinball licenses, up to 25 machines per establishment, after which the cost goes down.

Dyer officials suggested lowering the cost of a pinball license by as much as 75 percent last month. If the proposal is approved, the license cost would drop from $100 to $25.

Dyer officials also would like to tweak the section of the ordinance that deals with minors playing pinball. The prohibition is too hard to police, Eberly said, and most youths already are playing similar games on their cellphones.

Any changes would start with 2014 fees.
