DYER | The town accepted two donations and got the news that another donation will weigh half a ton.

Dyer Garden Club member Mary Jo Weaver donated a new planter for in front of Town Hall, and it will weigh more than 1,000 pounds. The club will donate plantings and time to maintain them.

“I don’t think we’ll have a theft issue,” Town Council President Joe Cinko said.

The planter will replace the whiskey barrel planters now in front of Town Hall.

The Garden Club also maintains beds at both fire stations, Kahler Middle School, the Town Grounds gazebo and Pheasant Hills Park.

The council also accepted two other donations at its May meeting, one from the Engine Room and another from the Garden Club.

The Engine Room’s donation of $100 will go toward the Dyer Fire Department, and the club’s donation of more than $180 will be put toward the bed at the gazebo.
