ST. JOHN | Textbook rental fees will increase next school year for Lake Central School Corp. students enrolled in kindergarten through fourth grade.
The Lake Central Board of Trustees approved the fees Monday.
Mark Kellogg, director of primary education, said the increase is related to the adoption of new reading materials for those grade levels. The increases are between $3 and $15.
Textbook fees for half-day kindergarten students will increase the most, from $139 to $154, Kellogg said. Full-day kindergarten textbook fees will go up the least, from $161 to $164.
First-graders will be charged $175, up from $162 this school year. A $10 increase in second-grade textbooks will take fees from $156 to $166.
Those in third grade will have textbook fees also increase $10, from $141 to $151.
Fees for fourth-graders go up $4 from $125 to $129.
Textbook rental fee will remain the same as last year for both the third and fourth grade advanced classes – $151 and $148, respectively.
Advanced classes for first and second grades are being added for the first time at Lake Central elementary schools. Those textbook fees will be $175 and $151, the same as for standard first- and second-graders.
