Summer festival fun returns to Pheasant Hills Park at 2301 Hart St. with the Dyer Summer Fest 2013 from Thursday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9.

This popular annual community event features carnival rides, midway games, food and beverages from vendors, a Beer Garden for those 21 and older, games of chance and skill and live and DJ entertainment. The festivities conclude with a fireworks display by Mad Bomber at 9 p.m. Sunday.

That carnival atmosphere comes to Summer Fest with amusement park rides and the midway games. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 5 to 11 p.m. Friday; 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Wristband Special for $20 for the carnival rides will be offered from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. There’s also a Last Blast Special for $15 from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Games of chance are being sponsored by the Dyer Knights of Columbus from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday; 7 to 11 p.m. Friday; 7 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

On Saturday and Sunday, enter the Bean Bag Tournament that begins with registration at 2 p.m. The cost is $20 per two-person team. Prizes will be awarded.

The VFW Post 6448 will also sponsor the Beer Garden that will provide adult beverages for those ages 21 and older. Located near the stage, the Beer Garden will be open from from 5 to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6; from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 7; from 2 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 and from 1 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.

No alcoholic beverages will be permitted outside the Beer Garden, says Mark Heintz, director of the Dyer Parks & Recreation Department.

Dyer United Methodist Church is a platinum sponsor of the festivities along with Dyer Construction.

Gold supporters include Barberry Apartments, Lithographic Communications LLC, NIPSCO and The Shopper.

Gus Bock’s Ace Hardware and Sunset Cinema Inc. are silver sponsors, while bronze sponsors include Action Plumbing Inc., Centier Bank, Eenigenburg Builders Inc., Texas Roadhouse and Modern Machine and Grinding Inc.
