Injured Iraq veteran sues Dyer firm over firing

HAMMOND | A Lake County man is suing Dyer's Hadady Corp., claiming he was terminated because he was a member of Indiana's National Guard.

In an answer filed Wednesday, the company denied all of the allegations and said it had "legitimate, nondiscriminatory reasons" for its employment decisions.

According to the complaint, Jeffrey McNorton had worked for the Hadady since 2000, except during periods he was called up by the National Guard.

He claims that his employer was opposed to allowing reservists to return to work after their deployment, and when they did return, they were subjected to harassment.

McNorton returned to work injured after a deployment to Iraq, and he claims Hadady denied him accommodations for his injuries and fired him last year.
