ST. JOHN | It was a night of recognitions at last week's Lake Central School Board meeting.

Thirty-nine Lake Central School Corp. teachers, administrators and staff members who are retiring at the end of this school year were honored Monday by the board and administrative staff.

Teachers included Jenny Anderson, Watson Elementary School; Millie Balach, Grimmer Middle School; Gloria Bellow, Grimmer Middle School; Davine Ball-Reed, Homan Elementary School; Joseph Brignoni, Protsman Elementary School; Lannie Brown, Grimmer Middle School; Karen Brownell, Kahler Middle School; Sandra Herald-Bushong, Lake Central High School; Julie Haneman, Kahler Middle School; and Kathleen Kras, Grimmer Middle School.

Also honored for their years of service were retiring teachers Janet Matusiak, Kolling Elementary; Bonnie Messenger, Protsman Elementary; Brenda Milk, Grimmer Middle School; Sylia Mora, Lake Central High School; Karen Pritchard, Kolling Elementary; Janice Rachon, Kolling Elementary; Debra Renn, Protsman Elementary; Rudy Skorupa, Lake Central High School; Cheryl Staniszewski, Grimmer Middle School; Mary Tanis, Kahler Middle School; Naudine Thomas, Kolling Elementary; Elaine Thrall, Lake Central High School; Roderick Wartman, Lake Central High School; Nancy Wilk, Bibich/Watson Elementary; and Ann Ziemkiewicz, Homan Elementary.

Three administrators are also retiring — Mark Kellogg, director of primary education; Joan Machuca, West Lake Special Education Cooperative; and Pat Hubbard, transportation director.

In addition, the support staff honored for their years of service and upcoming retirement were Pat Hubbard, transportation director; bus drivers Marianne DeBartolo, Katherine Fezekas and Grace Van Der Steeg; secretaries Cynthia Stivers of the transportation department, Mary Janik, Watson Elementary, Pat Cargal, of West Lake; Milka Culic, Lake Central High School custodian; Janice Kaczorowski, of food service; Fred Blush, of the district technology department; and Leah Marias, Bibich Elementary nurse.

“It takes a lot of people to run a large school corporation like Lake Central,” Superintendent Larry Veracco said. “I want to thank you for your dedication.”
