ST. JOHN | Any action regarding a change of the Lake Central High School mascot has been tabled by the School Board.
ST. JOHN | After a presentation by Principal Robin Tobias said Assistant Superintendent Al Gandolfi, trustees agreed at their Jan. 22 meeting to defer discussions or other planned steps regarding the Indian mascot, name and logo.
“The board indicated this was not the time, given that we are in the midst of a large construction project,” Gandolfi said earlier this week.
Informal discussions with students, staff and community members about changing to one unified mascot for all Lake Central schools led to a petition drive on www.change.org.
That petition drive was started by Lake Central students and has garnered 1,317 signatures to date.
