ST. JOHN | Technology has been upgraded in Lake Central School Corp. classrooms during the last three years thanks to a loan from the Indiana Common School Fund.

Director of Technology Rick Moreno told the School Board that teachers and students have benefited from upgraded network infrastructure, computer labs and the purchase of equipment.

Technology purchased for the elementary schools, middle schools and Lake Central High School includes 151 interactive white boards; 237 wall-mounted projectors; 166 interactive response systems that allow students to respond and receive instant feedback from computer programs; two interactive learning stations; three Classrooms on Wheels; 1,300 desktop computers to replace 8-year-old computers; and additional computer labs at all elementary schools and two middle schools to accommodate online testing.

In addition, the funds have allowed the school corporation to hire three technology trainers, Moreno said.

The computer network infrastructure also has been upgraded at five elementary schools, he said. This summer the infrastructure upgrade will be completed at Watson Elementary and Grimmer Middle schools.
