SCHERERVILLE | In celebration of National Library Week, April 13-19, the Dyer-Schererville branch of the Lake County Public Library will join Culver’s of Schererville in the "Bee" a Book Lover drawing contest for children 4 to 11.
Every child who completes a drawing will receive a Culver’s certificate for a free single scoop of Culver’s Fresh Frozen Custard and be entered into a random drawing to win a Scoopie Kids meal certificate.
"Books allow children to explore worlds both real and imaginary," said Culver’s of Schererville owner John Gates. "Any time we can encourage a child to read and use their imagination, we want to take part in that effort.
"National Library Week provides all of us with an important reminder of the positive role books play in shaping young minds and developing reading and language skills."
The drawing contest encourages children to read and celebrate their favorite book characters. Children can enter the contest by picking up drawing sheets from the Dyer-Schererville branch library beginning Monday and are encouraged to draw a picture of the main character or theme.
Drawings will be displayed at Culver's of Schererville through this month.
"We are excited to partner with Culver’s to help get kids, and the community, excited about reading," said Babs Lancaster with the Children's Services Department at the library.
