DYER | Now that the Dyer Enhancement Team and Community Foundation have been combined, the Town Council must decide what to do with leftover money.

The Enhancement Team’s former fund had $750 left in it, and the money has now been shifted to the General Fund, council members were told.

The council was asked to decide whether the money should remain in the General Fund or be put somewhere else.

The boards of the Enhancement Team and Community Foundation were combined earlier this year.

The Enhancement Team originally was formed to handle town beautification projects.

After the merger, the Community Foundation began the process of separating itself from the town. Members said they believed they might have an easier time raising money for projects if they were not a town entity.

Councilwoman Mary Tanis asked if the $750 could just be given to the foundation. However, according to Town Attorney Bill Enslen, the Community Foundation is still in the process of obtaining a 501c3 not-for-profit status, and so cannot yet accept the money.

Council President Debbie Astor suggested that the money be given to the Dyer Dog Park Committee. The issue is scheduled to be discussed further this month.
