DYER | A Dyer man was hospitalized early Wednesday after alleging firing five rounds from a handgun in his backyard into his home, police said.
Dyer officers called at 2:34 a.m. to a home in the 900 block of Van Buren Avenue for a report of shots fired, police Cmdr. Joe Cinko said.
When police arrived, they found the man in his backyard and the shots in the side of the home, he said.
All rounds were confined to the home, and no injuries were reported.
The man was deemed to have a medical issue and was taken to an area hospital for treatment and observation, Cinko said.
Charges of criminal recklessness may be pursued at a later date, he said.
