An undetermined number of people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, including the driver of the striking vehicle, said Dyer police Cpl. Robert Cook.
The striking vehicle was traveling west on U.S. 30 and hit the first vehicle about 200 yards east of the U.S. 30 and Calumet Avenue intersection, police said. Another vehicle was struck at the intersection and the final vehicle was hit west of the intersection, Cook said.
