SCHERERVILLE | The Nathan C. Splant Foundation will present its eighth annual Racing for Babies event Saturday at Illiana Motor Speedway, 7211 U.S. 30. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the first race will be at 7.
Admission is $12 and children 6 and younger attend free.
The foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to helping local families affected by premature birth. Through financial assistance and grant giving programs, the foundation seeks to facilitate greater community awareness and improve the conditions of those born too early and too small.
Each year, the foundation welcomes supporters and guests to the Racing for Babies event offering donated auction and raffle items from local businesses, including big and small ticket items (Chicagoland Speedway September Package for Two, White Sox tickets, Disney Hopper Passes, Chicago Cubs tickets, autographed memorabilia and dining gift cards and movie tickets.
There will also be face painting, light up race cars and special guest appearances. The “Racing for a Cause and Give Five Program” gives everyone the opportunity – on the day of the event - to autograph the race car hood donated by Five Star by making a donation.
The foundation also has sponsorships available to businesses/individuals for a minimum $25 donation. Sponsor multiple laps, or just one.
