DYER | A busy section of U.S. 30 in Dyer will be closed for five weekdays for a railroad crossing maintenance project later this month, town officials said.
The CSX railroad crossing in the 600 block of U.S. 30 will be closed from 6 a.m. July 15 to 5 p.m. July 19, according to a statement issued by Dyer Police Chief David Hein.
The crossing is just west of Calumet Avenue and east of Hart Street, near the Illinois state line and Lynwood. Franciscan St. Margaret Health hospital sits to the west of the crossing.
Hein is urging motorists to plan for alternate routes. Local traffic will be asked to use 213th Street to the north and 77th Avenue to the south for alternate east-west routes.
Truck and nonlocal traffic will be directed to follow posted detours.
