DYER | Arrest warrants are out for four region teens accused of a host of crimes, including a string of graffiti incidents in Dyer, police said.
The teens were involved in spray-painting vehicles, garages and town property with vulgarities and gang-related symbols Jan. 16 and 17, Dyer police Detective Cmdr. Joe Cinko said.
Through the course of investigating those crimes, Dyer police issued arrest warrants on four local teens, some of which were implicated in other crimes.
Alec J. Zima, 19, of the 9300 block of Olcott Ave. in St. John, was charged with conversion, four counts of criminal mischief and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, police said.
Zachary J. Burnett, 18, of the 1500 block of U.S. 30 in Schererville, was served a warrant Friday on charges of three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of false informing, according to police.
A 14-year-old male is facing charges of theft, four counts of criminal mischief and four counts of spray-painting.
A 16-year-old girl is charged with one count of conversion, four counts of criminal mischief and four counts of spray-painting.
The conversion charges stem from the theft of alcohol from a Meijer store in Merrillville, police said.
