DYER | Two local men were arrested on charges of robbery and battery after beating a man early Saturday outside a Dyer tavern and taking his wallet and cellphone, police said.
Jeremy Inman, 24, of the 3000 block of 44th Street in Highland, and Emilio Rodriguez, 22, of the 1700 Block Selo Drive in Schererville, are both being held at the Lake County Jail, Dyer police said.
Police were called at 1:02 a.m. to Sheffield's Restaurant and Bar, 1027 Sheffield Ave., for a call of a robbery. Officers arrived and spoke with a 26-year-old man who was lying on the ground bleeding from the head with multiple injuries
The man told police he was attacked by a group of men who took his cellphone and wallet as he left the bar.
A Dyer police officer stopped a car seen leaving the bar and discovered the Hammond man's wallet and many items from within the wallet inside the vehicle with Rodriguez and Inman, police said.
The Hammond man was treated at a local hospital for his injuries.
