EAST CHICAGO | Community hero Keon Kendall Brown has had quite the past couple months and appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today with a huge surprise.

"To me, you have to furnish your dorm so we, and our friends at Shutterfly would like to give you $10,000 so you could by some stuff," directed Ellen DeGeneres. "It's because you're a good guy."

Last month, Brown pulled a woman, suffering from a seizure, from her vehicle that struck his house and saved her life and also pulling out her son from the back seat. DegGeneres read his story and flew Brown and his mother to Los Angeles to be a guest on her show.

"This was a complete surprise," said Keon Brown, East Chicago Central High School senior. "I was super excited. She has changed so many people's lives by encouraging and reminding others to care about people."

Brown will be an honored guest at the Munster Rotary Club on Tuesday, June 3.
