EAST CHICAGO | The East Chicago Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 511 is endorsing candidates for the first time ever in this historic upcoming School Board Election in East Chicago on November 6.
This is the first time that a School Board Election is being held in East Chicago. Previously, all School Board Members were appointed by the Mayor. Although it was difficult in some races to choose among excellent alternatives, AFT 511 believes the following candidates have the best qualifications and will do the best job in cultivating excellence in education for the children of the School City of East Chicago.
These decisions were made by AFT 511 leadership in consultation with union and community members. Candidates' experiences, expertise in various areas, surveys completed, and presentations made at candidate forums were used in the decision making process.
- AT-Large: Emmett Karl Mosley, Mariecruz Segura Perez and Stephanie Ramos
- District 1: Frank Rivera
- District 2: Joel Rodriguez
- District 3: Wanda Gordilis
- District 4: Constance El-Amin
- District 5: Jesse Gomez
