EAST CHICAGO | Police are accepting applications for reserve officers for the city.
Applicants must be East Chicago residents and have a high school diploma or GED, Indiana driver's license and a good driving record.
Those applying must also be at least 20-years-old and have a good credit and employment history. Candidates will have to pass a background investigation and 40 hours of training. Applicants will have to meet state firearms qualifications.
Reserve officers will wear the same uniform and badge as full-time officers and will work about 20 hours per week.
Those interested can get applications at the East Chicago Police Department, 2301 E. Columbus Drive, during business hours.
