EAST CHICAGO | The City of East Chicago is encouraging residents to show support to the runners and walkers that will be trekking through your neighborhoods beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 for their annual 5K Run. The 3.1 mile run/walk should last no longer than 2 hours.
The course is flat and fast, with start and finish at Block Jr. High. 1st mile loops through residential area of Sunny Side. 2nd and 3rd mile loop through St. Catherine Hospital Campus and Prairie Park community. The finish is a 200 meter straight-a-way.
Last year, runners and walkers from all over Northwest Indiana visited our city as they participated in our event and many were very impressed with our neighborhood support and enthusiasm. Many neighbors went outside to greet and cheer them on. I hope that many of you take the opportunity to do the same this year. Our goodwill goes along way.
