EAST CHICAGO | An ambitious spring cleanup continues in East Chicago.

It's a combined effort of Mayor Anthony Copeland; Ronald Edmonds, director of the East Chicago Street Department; the Sanitary Solids Waste Division; and the Parks Department.

The cleanup runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

District 5 cleanup is Monday through Friday. District 1 is May 13 to 17.

Potholes and abandoned cars will be addressed per district. Large items should be placed in the alley or on the curb where no alleys exist, and all items that might blow in the wind should be secured.

Additionally, all vehicles should be removed as requested.
